Sanctuary Counselling Service
Counsellors help people to explore feelings and emotions that are often related to their experiences. This allows them to reflect on what is happening to them and consider alternative ways of doing things. Working in a confidential setting, counsellors listen attentively to their clients and offer them the time, empathy and respect they need to express their own feelings and perhaps understand themselves from a different perspective. The aim is reduce their confusion and enable them to make changes in their life if they decide to do so.
Counsellors do not give advice, but help clients to make their own choices within the framework of an agreed counselling contract.
Confidential, non-judgemental and down-to-earth, we will aim to develop a supportive relationship with you, where you feel safe to talk about difficulties you are experiencing and to be yourself. We use an integrative counselling approach, which has a basis in humanistic/person centred practice and we use a variety of methods, theories and techniques, including CBT. A humanistic counsellor works to understand your experience from your point of view and believes that we all have the potential to make changes and grow.
We are a group of counsellors who have particular experience and interest in addition, substance dependency, eating disorders, depression, low self-esteem, bereavement and loss, to name a few areas.
Counselling sessions are 50 minutes long and usually take place once a week. The fee for each session is £35. Lower fees may be available, please contact us to discuss this.
24 hour notice is required for cancellations, otherwise a fee will be charged.
